Get in touch
If you’re starting a business or looking for more value from your accountant or business advisor, we’d love to hear from you.
Who can we help?
We work alongside ambitious individuals, businesses and business owners, trusts, investors and farming businesses throughout the Waikato region (and beyond). As long-time Waikato locals, we understand the needs of local businesses and can also connect you with other professionals who can help you reach your goals.
Frequently asked questions
Changing accountants is simple from a client’s perspective.
We meet with you to discuss your needs, where your business is at and how we can assist you. We confirm this in writing and upon your acceptance, we forward a professional clearance letter to your previous accountant to advise them and obtain all relevant records.
We like to meet with potential clients initially to help us to ascertain how we can help them and their business. It is important to us that we are the right “fit” for our clients, with 4 directors and a wide range of experience – this is usually a simple process. This first meeting is confidential, free of any obligations and is our opportunity to ascertain how we can help.
If you are in business and already have financial statements, please email us the latest copy of these prior to the meeting or bring them with you. Or, if you are planning on developing or starting a business a business plan or cashflow forecast would be helpful.
The rest of the meeting will be ascertaining what your business and personal goals are and how we can help.
From your first obligation free meeting, we discuss what your needs and expectations are, confirm this in writing with you and only require your acceptance of the engagement.
The only additional requirements would be to satisfy our Anti Money Laundering and Countering Financing Terrorism Act obligations. There are a number of questions we are required to ask alongside obtaining proof of identity and proof of address for our new clients.
When you come on board with us, we assess your business needs, ascertain and assign a staff member that meets those needs best. This person, alongside the director, will be predominantly who you will deal with. However, other staff members in the team are usually able to help with most questions clients have. We have a well-established team that work well together to ensure clients’ needs are met efficiently.
Accountants can help with a lot more than you think. In addition to ensuring your tax and compliance obligations are met, the team at CHL have experience in:
- Launching start ups
- Provide training and ongoing assistance with accounting and payroll software
- Write and pitch loan applications for capital sourcing
- Developing strategies for business growth and development
- Anticipating and remedying cashflow ebbs and flows in your business
- Supporting and challenging business owners
- Management of debt and obligations
- Dealing with unpaid invoices – help with difficult suppliers or customers
- Budgeting smarter
- Unlocking efficiency through technology
- Succession planning and “Safety net” strategies
- Reviewing resource management and delivering advice aimed at increasing efficiency by minimising unnecessary costs, inventory obsolescence and employee downtime.
If you are in business, thinking of starting a business or looking after a Trust, there are compliance obligations that are required to be met. We are proficient in working with clients in meeting those obligations. However, our team are excited to help to deliver any of the above.
Our hourly fee structure ranges from $80 – $350 +GST and is dependent on the nature of work that is required. As part of assessing your business needs, the level of expertise that is required and the staff member that will be assigned to those particular tasks, we are able to advise an expected fee range.
We do offer fixed fee plans for businesses which are payable over a 12 month period.
These are often tailored to a client’s specific needs and offered to provide certainty in uncertain times. These are showcased on our website here.
For more information about our fixed fee plans, please speak with us.
We will work with you and the software that is beneficial or familiar for you and your business.
We are familiar with most major accounting software providers and our team pride themselves on keeping up to date with technological advances in the accounting space. Any software that your business uses that we are not familiar with, will be a welcome challenge for us to develop our skills further.
